With university approval, the Department of Economics made changes to its graduate offering and is launching the M.A. in Applied Economics this Fall 2024.
The program will cover two semesters and a summer, with some flexibility so working students and others can pursue the degree at their own pace. The degree is STEM recognized and price competitive. The new degree is very versatile in terms of career opportunities, because of its focus on areas in demand in the labor market. The program has new concentrations, including behavioral economics, environment and climate change, AI and the digital economy, and data analytics, and it keeps a concentration in international development.
Students do not have to be economics majors. As an applied economics program, it is empirical and focused on giving students practical skills that they can utilize in their job search and in the workplace. The program explores the frontiers of knowledge in economics with an ethical approach that considers human dignity and the common good.
Applications for the fall and spring semester are open. The deadline to apply for the fall semester is July 1st (international students) and August 15 (domestic students).
