IEDM Student Ismael Koita recently returned from Chimaltenango, Guatemala, where he was working on his Applied Research Project. His mission is to perform an impact evaluation of FUNSEPA. FUNSEPA (The Sergio Paiz Foundation) is a non-profit organization that commemorates the life and work of Sergio Paiz Andrade, an entrepreneur who believed in developing technology and education as resources for the sustainable development of the Central American region.
The organization’s mission is to use technology as a tool to advance the educational process in Guatemala, thus contributing to the nation’s social and economic development. To this day, FUNSEPA has trained 71,522 teachers and provided over 10,852 computers to 789 public primary schools throughout the country, resulting in 312,563 students with access to technology.
