Dr. Olga Uritskaya is an Adjunct Professor in the Economics Department, and a Research Associate in the Physics Department, at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. She specializes in risk evaluation of catastrophic events in complex systems and is involved in cross-disciplinary projects on environmental and socio-economic impacts of space weather.

Dr. Uritskaya’s past and present research interests are in nonlinear analysis of stability of macroeconomic systems, public policy for economic development and reducing poverty, early warning systems and forecasting of catastrophic events in complex economic, natural and technological systems, as well as mathematical foundations of the decision-making process in complex economic problems involving uncertainty and risk.

Dr. Uritskaya received her Ph.D. in Mathematical Economics from St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University, Russia. During more than 20 years of teaching experience around the world (Russia, Latvia, Canada, USA), she has authored and taught multiple lecture courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, adapted a number of advanced economic and math theories for diverse groups of students, from freshmen to experienced economists and managers continuing their education.

Dr. Uritskaya is author of 5 books, multiple collective monographs and peer-reviewed scientific papers on nonlinear behavior of complex economics systems. She is also an expert reviewer for major scientific journals. Since 2016 she is a regular panel reviewer for the US Department of Energy.
